From a Dog Owner: Reasons Why I Love a German Shepherd Dog

Baxter – the name I got for my GSD (German Shepherd Dog), has been our family dog for 4 years now. I can barely remember how and when I have ever become a dog lover, but the thrill and joy I have for being one is priceless. Here are the reasons why I love a German shepherd dog:

Best in almost anything
It is said that GSDs are known for their intelligence, tenacity, courage and strength. They can easily learn tricks and mental exercises. They can be trained to do things you want to make them do as well. They can easily adapt to any lifestyles so you don’t have to adjust to them, they can do it the other way around. If properly trained, they can be bold but calm, protective but friendly, aggressive but sweet.
Baxter was socialized and trained when he was young so he knows welcome and unwelcome guests, family friends and even strangers.

GSDs are so clever and can be highly trained that they are sought as herding dogs, guide dogs for disabled people, service dogs for search and rescue operations and guard dogs for protection from intruders.

Awesome companion
GSDs are good family dogs. They are friendly, sweet and caring toward their owners. Their calm nature makes you feel less intimidated and a lot safer. Baxter plays with my 3-year-old nephew and to those people who are familiar with him. He can be an awesome companion when you want to do exercises like jogging or walking or when you want a dog to play with.
Top guard dog breed
GSDs have a protective attitude. Whether police dogs or house dogs, they know just how to protect their owners from danger and keep them safe.

GSDs are energetic. They like taking part in outdoor activities where they can use up their energy such as running, swimming, camping, and so on. They are so active they can make you healthy as well! And since they don’t get tired easily, family and friends can bond well with them for as long as they want to.

Respectful and Loyal
GSDs can serve their owners and protect them all their lives, but this needs proper training. They are outstanding family companions that can provide years of faithful and loyal service.

Only people with dedication and willingness to give more time and energy can see the full potential of a GSD and learn that caring for a GSD is priceless and worthwhile.
